Tell me what you really think, Jane!

Jane Schwendinger of the Austin Genealogical Society doesn’t care much for me.   Today I got this message out of the blue:

Although she’s obviously got a stick up her ass, she may have a point.  Any suggestions on how I can do better?

While I believe that a simple “I am finding no connection to anyone on your tree. Please remove my family name and let me know if you have information to the contrary.” from Ms. Schwendinger would have sufficed; I would have offered her the following: Dear Jane, I apologize for any error I may have made in noting your family name in my “collection of names”. I certainly would not want to inconvenience you or your family in any way. You see, at the time I was “collecting” names, I was desperately searching for any relative that could possibly lead me to a family member for my critically ill father who might have been a match as a kidney donor. However, he is now dead. Hoping this finds you and your family in good health and enjoying this holiday season with your loved ones. Respectfully, Jeff.

I guess that is how I would have handled it. Mom

      Not bad, mom.
